FEMALE GENITAL REJUVENATION

Genital Aesthetic Surgeries

As women go through childbearing, hormonal changes and aging, they can experience changes in their genitalia. These changes that can impact a woman's quality of life include vaginal laxity, stress urinary incontinence, loss of vaginal lubrication, a decrease in erotic sensation and loss of tone of the labia majora. As women, their physicians and the media are finally beginning to talk about these issues, the number of treatments available is increasing.

Devices that have been developed to treat some or all these changes use radiofrequency or laser energy to induce collagen tightening. Fillers are also sometimes used to inject in the clitoris and/or "G-spot." Though not all investigators agree that the G-spot exists, it's described to be an erotic area just inside the front wall of the vagina.

The field of nonsurgical female genital rejuvenation is currently growing day by day as the changes women experience receive greater attention. Before discussing each one, let's look at the anatomy.

External anatomy of the female genitalia

The hair bearing area over the pubic bone at the upper portion of the female genitalia is called the mons. The hair-bearing outer lips are called the labia majora (singular is labium majus). The inner lips are called the labia minora (singular is labium minus). In the upper portion in the center is the clitoral hood, sometimes called the prepuce, which covers the clitoris in part or entirely. Below the clitoris is the urethral opening, and below that is the vaginal opening.

Hymenoplasty

Why do you need hymenoplasty?

The hymenal ring normally gets disrupted after a woman has had sexual intercourse or even after strenuous physical activity or tampon use. Some times for cultural or other personal reasons (upcoming marriage), a woman would like to restore a more intact, tighter hymenal ring and experience vaginal bleeding and pain with first sexual intercourse.

How is the result of hymenoplasty?

In most cases, hymenoplasty virtually undetectable after complete healing and patient are extremely happy and amazed with very natural looking hymenoplasty results.

Do I need hospitalization?

It can be done as day care procedure but sometimes a day stay can be offered if General anaesthesia is given.

How is the postoperative period recovery?

There will be mild swelling and discomfort that will settle in 1-2 weeks time. Oral medications will be prescribed for the same. The sutures will be absorbable so need to give further pain for stitch removal.

The final result will be appreciated in around 2 months’ time once the oedema disappear completely.

Female Genital Rejuvenation

Female genital rejuvenation procedures are mainly aimed for reshaping or reducing the external appearance of the vagina. It can boost self-esteem and enhance sexual life.

Various factors contribute to your femininity, confidence and sexual life but one of the most important things is your private part, which is appearance of your genitalia.

Why do you need labioplasty?

In women asymmetric, large, or irregular genital labia (lips) can occur naturally or it may develop with age, childbirth, hormones, or even from sexual intercourse. In most women, the labia minora (inner genital "lips") are seen only when the legs are kept apart, however in some women, large labia minora are visible even when the legs are not separated, causing discomfort, embarrassment, self-consciousness, and distances in relationships.

Enlarged labia may also be noticeable in tightly fitting clothes, and might cause discomfort during intercourse or bicycle riding.

For these reasons, many women with asymmetric or large labia choose to make the labia smaller, more defined, and/or more symmetric through a procedure known as Labioplasty or labia majora/ minora reduction.

How long the labioplasty surgery takes?

Usually, this procedure takes between 1 to 2hours and is performed with local / regional anaesthesia. Some patients prefer even general anaesthesia.

What are the complications of labioplasty?

As these areas are more prone for infection, so patient are advised to maintain hygiene and cleaning of part regularly. This is a minor procedure and like any other wound there is slight chance of bleeding, infection.

Labia Reduction

A labiaplasty is surgery to reduce the size of the labia minora – the flaps of skin either side of the vaginal opening.
Some women consider having a labiaplasty because they don't like the look of their labia, or because the labia cause discomfort. This is a major decision you should weigh up carefully.

It's natural and normal for a woman to have noticeable skin folds around her vaginal opening and, in most cases, this shouldn't cause any problems.

A labiaplasty can be expensive and the operation carries a number of risks. There's also no guarantee you'll get the result you expected, and it won't necessarily make you feel better about your body.

If you’re thinking of going ahead, it’s a good idea to discuss your plans with your GP first. There might be a medical condition causing your labial discomfort, or a reason why the operation isn't appropriate for you.

If your GP feels that your labia are perfectly normal after examining them, they may want to have a chat with you about your reasons for wanting surgery. You may be advised to speak to a counsellor or psychologist before you commit to any surgery.

Labia Augmentation

Augmentation or labiaplasty: Injections to increase the fullness of the labia majora. Aging or weight loss can result in reduced fullness of the vagina's outer lips, the labia majora. Involuted outer labia can be corrected by injecting fat taken from another area of the body.

The procedure can be performed under intravenous sedation or local anaesthetic and takes about an hour.
You can resume your sexual activity after two weeks.
Labia augmentation: injections of your own body fat

Traditionally an autologous fat transplant - your own body fat - was used to enhance aging labia majora. In very thin ladies plumping up the outer labia may be desirable to improve their appearance and make them look more youthful.

In the Wellness Kliniek we use the Coleman lipostructure method. However results can be unpredictable and a repeat session is generally required. Rejection of the fat and irregularities may occur.

Vaginoplasty/Tightening

Vaginoplasty is a procedure that aims to "tighten up" a vaginathat's become slack or loose from vaginal childbirth or aging. Some surgeons claim it can even improve sensitivity -- a claim the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has strongly challenged.
While it's true that vaginal tissues can stretch, surgically tightening the vaginal tissue in itself cannot guarantee a heightened sexual response, since desire, arousal, and orgasm are complex, highly personal responses, conditioned as much by emotional, spiritual, and interpersonal factors as aesthetic ones. In addition, sexual "sensitivity" doesn't automatically lead to more pleasure - it can actually lead to pain.
